Role Overview
The Director of Prospecting is responsible for overseeing and scaling our paid acquisition, list rental, and cold lead conversion channels. You’ll lead our outbound growth motion: identifying high-quality lead sources, optimizing ROI, managing vendors, and owning prospecting performance from testing to acquisition to reactivation.
You’ll work across departments—creative, data, finance, and strategy—to drive efficient, scalable, and repeatable new donor growth across all major client verticals. This is a leadership role for a deeply analytical, high-agency growth operator with experience in direct response.
Key Responsibilities

Own prospecting performance across SMS, email, and digital ad acquisition—from cold outreach to warm conversion

Manage vendor relationships and media buyers (e.g., list rental networks, SMS partners, ad brokers) to ensure efficient cost-per-acquisition (CPA)

Develop and lead testing roadmap for acquisition, reactivation, and long-tail monetization

Build and maintain dashboards to report performance by channel, partner, segment, and campaign

Collaborate with Creative and Strategy teams to develop channel-specific messaging that converts cold audiences

Negotiate and oversee budgets for outbound acquisition, including A/B testing, ROAS forecasting, and performance scaling

Monitor industry trends and deliverability risks, ensuring our outbound strategies remain compliant and competitive

Manage team members or vendors assigned to outbound prospecting campaigns, ensuring high-quality execution
Qualifications

5+ years experience in digital fundraising, paid acquisition, or direct response marketing

Demonstrated success in growing and scaling prospecting programs across multiple channels

Deep knowledge of list rental networks, SMS acquisition, cold email, and digital donor funnels

Strong analytics skills, including comfort with Excel/Sheets, dashboard tools, and SQL (bonus)

Experience managing budgets, vendors, and performance-based campaigns

Exceptional communication and cross-functional leadership skills

High bias for action, strong follow-through, and a mindset of ownership and testing

Political or issue advocacy fundraising experience

Experience with UTM-based segmentation and attribution modeling

Familiarity with Acoustic, WinRed, Anedot, or other political fundraising platforms

Direct experience with list exchanges, swaps, or third-party monetization models
